Pulpdent First-Coat Primer Now Available Separately Pulpdent Corporation, manufacturer of Embrace WetBond products, is now offering Embrace First-Coat Primer individually as a refill item. First-Coat is a key component of the Embrace Restoration and PFM Repair Kit. Embrace First-Coat is a unique, light-cured resin primer that replaces silane and metal adhesives and is placed on both the porcelain and metal surfaces. It contains no solvents and represents the first significant improvement in porcelain repair materials in two decades. It can be cured with any curing light. Testing indicates that the adhesive bond strength between First-Coat and porcelain is stronger than the cohesive strength of porcelain itself. First-Coat obsoletes the use of silane as a porcelain primer. It solves the difficult chemistry problem created by bonding an organic resin to an inorganic ceramic surface. First-Coat is available in a 1.2-mL syringe and includes 10 flocked applicator tips. Pulpdent manufactures high-quality products for the dental profession including adhesives, composites, sealants, cements, etching gels, calcium hydroxide products, endodontic specialties, and bonding accessories. | | FibreKleer Post System Provides Higher Strength and Greater Esthetics The clear FibreKleer Post System is the latest in esthetic, high-strength fiber post technology from Pentron Clinical Technologies, LLC. The FibreKleer Post is ideal for all post applications, especially under all-ceramic crowns where final esthetics is critical. The clarity and transparency of the post takes on the shade of the restoration and prevents the gray shadow effect that can occur with metal posts. The ability of this post to blend with natural dentition ensures more natural-looking restorations. The high light transmission of the FibreKleer Post enables light initiation of dual-cured cements to speed the placement procedure. Because of its unidirectional arrangement of glass fibers, the FibreKleer Post has an impressive flexural strength of 1,577 MPa and a flexural modulus of 26 GPa. FibreKleer Posts are available in two body designs and a variety of sizes: parallel with a retentive head for increased mechanical core retention, and tapered for conservative dentistry and minimal tooth reduction. These components are made of a strong, biocompatible polymer material called PEEK that is easily customized to a patient's tissue contours and anatomic profile. PreFormance provisional components offer some of the longest temporary in vivo uses of polymers on the market—180 days vs 30 days. The PreFormance post cement-retained provisional option features the Certain QuickSeat Connection, which tells the clinician the abutment is properly seated with an audible and tactile click. It is available in straight or 15° preangled configurations for ideal angle correction, collar heights in 4 mm or 6 mm to follow gingival contours without trapping cement, and an Emergence Profile for more natural esthetics. The PreFormance post also has a smooth surface for easy provisional restoration reline and a flat side for antirotation. The PreFormance temporary cylinder screw-retained option has a knurled surface for mechanical retention of resin material and is available in hexed or nonhexed. The hexed version also offers the Certain QuickSeat Connection. Snap Resins are designed for dentists who prefer the economy and expanded shades available with a powder/liquid system. Snap's unique vinyl methacrylate formulation reportedly reduces shrinkage over traditional methyl methacrylate resins. Unlike bis-Acryl cartridge systems, Snap restorations do not feature a slimy oxygen-inhibited layer that must be removed with solvent. Snap powders are available in nine different shades; however, the new bleached powder can be mixed with any of the others to create a custom shade with increased value. Based on the highly regarded and successful Fuji II LC, Fuji Filling takes resin-reinforced glass ionomer technology to the next level. Fuji Filling uses the highly acclaimed Paste Pak delivery system also found in FujiCEM and Fuji Lining LC. Improvements include higher translucency, high radiopacity, and higher fluoride release. Fuji Filling is available in 6 shades (A1, A2, A3, A3.5, CV, and Blue). Now you have all the benefits of glass ionomer and resin-based restoratives without sacrificing esthetics. Fuji Filling is indicated as a liner base for the sandwich technique, small core buildup, or as a full restorative in Classes 1, 2, 3, and 5. Its high fluoride release makes it ideal for all patients, including those found to have a high caries risk. To improve bond strength and simplify technique, GC also is introducing Self-Conditioner. Self-Conditioner is a no- rinse conditioner specially formulated to work with resin-reinforced glass ionomers such as Fuji Filling and Fuji II LC. The required conditioner for Fuji Filling more than doubles its bond strength to dentin and enamel. This occlusal and interproximal caries detection device, an international discovery that made its debut last year, is now available in miniature. The size of a pen, the Neks D-Carie Mini works the same way as the existing Neks D-Carie but offers the added advantage of wireless technology and battery-powered operation for enhanced lightness and handling. The optical technology at the heart of the device was developed by dentist and Neks cofounder Dr. Naïm Karazivan and uses light-emitting diodes to accurately detect occlusal caries, even when lesions are in the earliest stages. The Neks D-Carie Mini is a diagnostic aid: used in conjunction with an x-ray, it allows the practitioner to assess a third dimension—the volume of the caries—before even beginning to open the cavity. Both the Neks D-Carie and the new Neks D-Carie mini detect more than 91% of occlusal caries, which is twice the rate obtained through conventional exploration and visual examination. The Neks D-Carie detects on average 50% more caries than its competitor. Contact Perfect is a revolutionary new posterior composite matrix system that produces predictable, naturally contoured contact every time. There is no need for aggressive wedging with this system; therefore, the risk of hyperocclusion and patient sensitivity is reduced. This innovative product features a patent-pending design with removable interproximal "windows." By removing the interproximal barrier, Contact Perfect matrix bands expose the composite resin and allow it to make direct contact with the adjacent tooth, forming tight contacts and natural contours. They are fast and easy to place using a traditional Tofflemire retainer. Contact Perfect offers the dental professional an easy and effective solution to the most frustrating issues with composite restorations—open contacts and patient sensitivity. Contact Perfect matrix bands are available in three different styles: universal 2-surface bands, bicuspid 3-surface bands, and molar 3-surface bands. They are offered in a package of 24 bands per pack and include a directions-for-use chairside card. An introductory pack of 12 bands is also available to help the dentist get started. Contact Perfect matrix bands were officially introduced at the California Dental Association meeting in Anaheim last month.
